City InformationAberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland after Glasgow and Edinburgh. The city is called the Granite City and has also been bestowed the title of "Oil Capital of Europe". More than half of Scotland’s malt whiskey distilleries are in the Grampian area including the Glenfiddich distillery. Aberdeen has a mix of modern pubs and bars as well as the traditional pubs. It also has numerous night clubs, including Amadeus, the biggest nightclub in Scotland. The journey to Aberdeen by coach from London Victoria Coach Station to Guild Street bus station takes 12 hours. By train from London to Aberdeen it takes 7 hours and from Edinburgh or Glasgow it takes 2 and a half hours. The Aberdeen Airport is situated 7 miles north-west of Aberdeen City Center. The flight from London takes half an hour and there are also good connections to other countries around the world via Amsterdam and Paris. Aberdeen is the largest manufacturing center in the north for paper, chemicals, machinery and textiles.
